Tara joined the Merrickville Team Dec 2023. She has loved all animals since a child. After studying Law and Psychology at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario, she started her career working with animals at the Ottawa Humane Society; first, working in the Investigation / Adoption department and eventually becoming the Co-Ordinator of K-9 Services and Behaviour. Tara has a passion for client care and the human/ animal bond. Tara believes a positive, compassionate experience, education and community support are vital in the human-animal relationship and animal industry as a whole. This led her to join the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council of Canada (PIJAC) which gave her the opportunity to travel across Canada as a national speaker on canine behaviour working closely with several animal agencies. Tara was involved with placement of dogs with our Canadian Customs Border Service K-9 units. Here at Merrickville Veterinary Services , she is a friendly voice and smile at our reception desk. She is always willing to speak with, listen to and help our clients, both human and animal. Tara shares her life with her children, husband, horses and three dogs, on her family farm in Oxford Mills, Ont. In her spare time Tara enjoys riding in equestrian events for pleasure, anything Game of Thrones, and advocating for all the vulnerable, animals and people alike for their humane treatment, care and protection!
